I don't think there is a nicer tasting drink than the first one you drink on a Friday after work, possibly the second one is an enjoyable one but the first drop touching your lips signifies that the working week is over and your time is your own for two days, unless like me you also work at weekends slaving away making podcasts and staging gigs. Some people work at the weekends so I imagine they have a weekend somewhere in the middle of the week, as good as that sounds it would be confusing at first.
Pubs on a Friday teatime are a problem though as they are full of people who have just finished their working week and want to welcome in the weekend with a drink. I know I am one of those people but I am different because I am not one of those annoying people that ruin pubs for other people. The city centre pubs are full of people being a little bit too loud and I just want to sit and enjoy a drink. If I wanted loud music I would go to a gig, if I wanted to talk loudly to my friends I would go to a gig because that's what people do in Nottingham, eh? Am I right?
Mandi was meeting me but I wasn't sure where we should go, I checked in a couple of places near to her work and they were too full of people so I suddenly remembered a tiny little place I had seen a few times but never yet entered. The Barrel Drop is a lovely little place obviously run by dedicated and enthusiastic lovers of decent beer. The barrels are behind the bar with taps hammered in and there isn't even a proper till, he seemed to be doing it all with an iPad. The seats were all wooden, I didn't see a comfy sofa or anything, and the music was unobtrusive giving some much needed peace and relief from the world outside. Hidden away down Hurts Yard this is the ideal pub for a Saturday afternoon after a good dig around in Rob's Record Mart where you can get a pint to wash the dust of the old vinyls out of your throat. I just hope it doesn't become too popular and fills up with people who would ruin it and remains a secret just for nice people hankering after a quiet drink away from the hurly burly of everyday life. No disrespect to the owners of this pub, but please do not take this blog as a recommendation because I don't want to see you in there making your noise.

August housekeeping
We are now in the eighth month of the year and at a standstill as far as work is concerned. In unrelated news, it is my birthday on the 27th of this month so a nice present would be a donation using the PayPal button. This would be spent on creating podcasts, documentaries, short films, comedy sketches and various other entertainments that I will make available to enjoy online for free.
The above t-shirt and bag is also available to buy, all the money goes to the same creative fund. They are on my shop page.
I'll play you a kazoo song request, find out how here.
Letter of complaint written for you for £2, here.
