Mandi got up before me this morning as she had to go into town on an emergency shopping dash, I stayed in bed for two reasons; I couldn't be arsed, and I don't agree with shopping on a Sunday. The only people who benefit from Sunday trading are those without families, as they can grab all the double time for themselves. Close on Sunday, save a fortune on double time, but put that saving back into giving the staff either a pay rise or regular bonus. Is there no problem I can solve?
What happened to me I'm not sure, but I did a housework blast before leaving to go to my dad's for lunch. I emptied the washing machine and put the washing out, put another wash load on, did the dishes, took the rubbish out, took the recycling out, fed the cats, had a shower and was out. I started out this mission thinking that I had more time than I had, because I was a bit later than I had hoped to be arriving at my dad's.
Someone at the BBC needs a boot up the arse when it comes to reading emails. Jarvis Cocker wasn't doing his Sunday afternoon show on BBC 6 Music today, and had a stand in (sit in?) presenter doing it instead. I'm not sure how long ago 6Music became aware of The Sunday Alternative, but it was long enough ago to know how suitable I would have been to cover for Jarvis. What really hurt was the fact that the woman in Jarvis Cocker's place wasn't very good. A bit like when Erik and I were trying to get the Saturday 10am-1pm 'comedy slot', and they gave it to Peter Serafinowicz, fine comedian, actor, writer, and director, but proved that radio presentation isn't one of his skills. Another bollock dropped by the radio station that is meant to be about quality. At the risk of sounding arrogant, I know that I am good enough for 6, and deep down they must do too, given the amount of coincidental similarities between things we used to do on The Sunday Alternative and what I hear on 6Music.
