Radio and Podcast

The Sunday Alternative (2011-2014)

I presented this show every week on Trent Sound. It is a mix of the best music there is and rightfully carries the tagline "music you don't hear on the radio, on the radio". The Sunday Alternative has had a colourful history of walk-outs and drama but remains my baby. This archive contains most of, but sadly not all of the Trent Sound editions of the show, alongside some special mixtapes, two podcast versions, and a pilot made for the online station Top Wave Radio.

The Sound Of Nottingham UK (2012-2014)

This is the show I did for the American station Robin Hood Radio, in which I played the very best from Nottingham's music scene including a live session from one performer a week.

Saturday 4am/Sunday 6pm UK

NottinghamLIVE (2013-2014)

I co-presented NottinghamLIVE with Darren Patterson, the founder of the website of the same name, every Wednesday 7pm-10pm UK time on Trent Sound. The show was regarded as the most important show concerning the Nottingham music scene, and had a live session every week. This archive is not my property; my personal archive of these shows was lost in a laptop death, so this Mixcloud is Darren's
.

Moonage Daydream

"The ultimate David Bowie podcast" was originally presented by Jean Genie, and I was the producer before taking over the presenting duties in 2013. It is a sporadic podcast series that I wish I could devote more time to.

Steve's LP Box

One week on The Sunday Alternative, I decided that I was going to give my final hour to a tribute to the album Appetite For Destruction to mark the anniversary of its release. I enjoyed doing it so much that I did an album show every week, until I quit Trent Sound the first time. After a Christmas special, a second series of six editions was released as podcast only in early 2013, and a third and final series was  released in autumn 2013.

Covermount

Another one that began life on radio, Covermount is a show that celebrates the cassettes that were given away free with the music press in the 1980s and 1990s. This series is on hiatus at the moment due to lack of time, but I haven't given up hope of finishing the story one day.

The Robin Hood Sessions (2013)

These are the live sessions that were recorded for The Sound of Nottingham UK, presented here as they were broadcast with an opening track followed by the interview and further tracks.

The T-Shirt Wearer's Guide to The Ramones (2015)

A one-off podcast in which I try to educate those people who wear t-shirts depicting a band they have never heard of. You can listen to the podcast here.

The Sunday Alternative Podcast (2014-present)

Away from the radio, The Sunday Alternative is now a new music podcast and attracting more listeners than ever. Listen here.
