As John Lewis haven't really bothered to live up to past glories, the Christmas advert has so far been won by Marks and Spencer. M&S of course took over the celebrity packed mantle from Woolworths for a couple of years, but now that the memory of Woollies has faded (apart from at Christmas when we all return to missing it tremendously) they aren't bothering with all that. What they have done instead is take a cue from John Lewis and knock them into a cocked hat in the heart warming stakes.

Busy old Santa Claus buggers off to deliver joy throughout the world on his sleigh, leaving Mrs Claus at home. Only this time Mrs Claus is cool and sexy and not the usual homely old lady we (possibly) associate with the role). She also doesn't hold with all that reindeer and chimney piffle either and flies a helicopter to deliver a last minute present to an older sister on behalf of her annoying younger brother because he loves her despite being annoying. It is exactly the heart warming festive advert that John Lewis should wish that they made this year. Sainsbury's this year have just gone weird in my opinion, and to be honest I haven't actually seen any of the others.

I added another clown to my collection yesterday while waiting to meet a friend and her daughter for a drink. The delightful little girl told me she was not scared of clowns until I took it out of my bag and she freaked out, proving that she perhaps didn't know what a clown was. I think he looks harmless enough and he is also a money box, so I have called him Bunce and my plan is to only put 1p coins in when I bring them home from shopping. Yes, I name my clowns, want to make something of it?
