As much as I love the seaside in the winter, it is a lot more difficult to find a seafood stall open. Yesterday we went for a long walk along the seafront to Hove and along the way I found a lone stall selling the lovely stuff. I will basically eat anything that was once able to swim so this tub of delights was something I had been looking forward to, I would have enjoyed it a lot more if those pesky seagulls hadn't been determined to make me share it.

This morning we attended a Remembrance Day service which could have benefited from a bit more planning. As the war memorial is in the middle of a busy traffic system for starters we could hardly hear what was going on. To make matters worse the one minute silence was anything but as nobody had thought to shut the road for the occasion so life carried on as normal. As uncomfortable as it was at least I attended for my Granddad who was badly affected psychologically by his experience. To lighten the mood we went for a late breakfast afterwards at a place of Mandi's choosing, an American diner style place on the seafront so that she could have pancakes. I think if you're going to open an American style diner you should first be made to go to America and have a look at some real ones (American style diners over there are simply known as 'diners' I imagine) rather than do what the owner of this place did and just glean all his knowledge from watching Happy Days. The food was lovely and the staff were too, it's just the whole theme concept is something that leaves me cold. Nothing wrong with an authentic place but I can't imagine a genuine diner in America looking like this, although of course their idea of a pub isn't entirely accurate either

The walk to Hove was lovely, not too cold but very windy. Since coming to Brighton I have slept better than I ever do at home thanks to the sea air. I wonder how long this lasts for, if you move to the coast from inland how long is it before the effect wears off and I assume that people born at the seaside are immune otherwise nobody would get anything done as they would all be asleep. Actually that wouldn't happen as we have been going to bed reasonably early (for me that means before midnight) and waking up around half past nine without that feeling of fogginess in your head, it's a pity I'm on holiday because I would have got loads of work done.

Although I am not supposed to be working I remain dedicated to my music and today I was able to fulfil my ambition of performing in a Victorian bandstand.
