To re-visit what I was saying about Alan Partridge's music tastes, we carried on with the box set last night and remembered that he played air guitar to 'Music for Chameleons' by Gary Numan while alone in the caravan. Another good choice I'm sure you'll agree.
This morning was the usual rush to get ready for lunch at my dad's, which meant that I hid in my office doing podcast admin to avoid doing any housework, I do my bit don't get me wrong, but I'm sure no lawyer or judge would argue that podcasts that have a weekday in their name should take priority on that weekday. The listening figures still haven't caught up with before I took the enforced break but they are respectable enough and I'm sure will return to normal after a week or so. It's the musicians I feel sorry for, being played to fewer people than normal, but hopefully they'll remember the support they received from me and I'll be able to play their next releases when they send them, obviously this doesn't really apply to Nottingham musicians because they are usually such an ungrateful bunch. Not all of them of course, but a lot of them.
With not a lot to do this afternoon I tried to muster up some enthusiasm for Glastonbury footage and came across Sleaford Mods performing on the John Peel Stage. This was an unexpected surprise as I didn't know they were playing, and even more of a surprise that the BBC filmed it considering their content. I've not seen them on stage before but have listened to and enjoyed them for a number of years but wondered how this would translate to a live performance. The truth is that it doesn't really, as good as they sound on record they just don't have anything visual besides watching Jason Williamson getting angrier and angrier while Andrew Fearne standing by his laptop bobbing away to the tune he has just pressed the button to start.
The big one tonight, the headline band are The Who and I have booked my place in front of the television for it. On that note, will people realise that the band/artist that headlines on Sunday is the headliner and there is no such thing as headlining on Friday or Saturday. Just saying.
