Cast ne'er a clout 'till May be out.
Pinch punch, first of the month.
White rabbits.
Holy fucking shit, it's May already!

One of the above expressions is one that I made up, see if you can work out which one. We have today entered the fifth month of the year and now I am panicking about the direction my career is taking. In theory most of the tasks on my to-do list are quick and easy jobs but the organisation is slowing me down. My list for next year is already written and I'm keen to not have any overlap because ideally I want everything done and dusted by August 2016 when I turn forty. Once I am properly finished I might go through the box of abandoned ideas with a view to putting some of them into action but then again, I might not.

In more positive news, I have two acts confirmed for The Sunday Alternative Live on July 5th. My approach was to machine gun a load of messages out and hope for a response, so it is likely that people will start to say yes as soon as I have a line up fully confirmed.

If this gig does become a regular thing then it will take some of the sting out of the fact that I'm not getting anywhere in other ventures. Although I want to film each performance for the show's dusty cobwebbed YouTube channel, I still have other irons in the fire, unfortunately the fire seems to be going out. The live gigs might (will) be the only way that my dream of a filmed version of the radio show/podcast will get to see the light of day.

It was back in the quieter Internet days of 2007 when I first developed the idea for an online show called The Pod, (a clever name in 2007 when podcasting was still a new thing), an Internet 'online television' show in which I introduced new and established artists in a Jools Holland  style free from the restrictions of television and radio guidelines. Apart from the fact that nobody in 2007 quite understood what I was on about ("Television on the Internet? Nah") I realised that it would be a logistical nightmare, even years later once the rest of the world had caught up and technology improved and I considered doing the same thing under the Sunday Alternative name it still looked like more hassle than it was worth. This gig and spin-off video series might only be a fraction of my original vision, but I'll take that fraction.

This week's edition of The Sunday Alternative can be heard here.
