My plan to record the podcast yesterday afternoon fell apart slightly as I fell asleep on the sofa for three hours and messed up the evening a little. More beer over dinner and watching a film (the 2002 adaptation of The Hound of the Baskervilles if anyone is taking notes for the end of year quiz) suddenly seemed more important to me. I took my own hound out for a walk afterwards and although I wished to get some writing done I had one of my close downs and went to sleep just before midnight, even I need to catch up with my sleep from time to time.
Mandi was on the double-time train to work this morning so I managed to get up a little earlier than is preferable for a Sunday but I was therefore able to set about recording the podcast. I was going to my dad's for lunch as usual so I wasn't going to bother walking Jack as he would have the opportunity for a leg stretch when he comes with me. However, he didn't eat his food so I scooped it into a tub intending to feed him at my dad's figuring the walk would give him an appetite. As it happened I needed to pop out for cigarettes so I took Jack with me (there's a shop locally with the till just inside the door which is great because I would never leave Jack tied up outside a shop) and he did one of the biggest craps I have ever seen. This was bigger than the Boxing Day white knuckle experience we all go through and if I hadn't seem Jack doing it I would have imagined it being produced by a Great Dane at least. Poor little lad, no wonder he didn't want his breakfast - there wasn't the room. Once we were home I decided to try and feed him again and he ate the lot so that was a worry off my mind. We have changed his food because he seemed to be getting bored of his regular brand (Pedigree Chum), and I'm not sure he likes this as much but we've bought it now and I don't like wasting food so I want him to eat it. If he leaves anything the cats will eat it so if worst comes to the worst they can eat Caesar for a bit. At first I was concerned that the cats would be doing themselves some harm by eating dog food and vice versa Jack eating cat food, but nobody has died yet. Kevina had problems with stress and lost a lot of fur due to obsessive over -grooming, since she has been sneaking dog food her fur has grown back and is lovely and soft again. I'm no scientist but I'm considering eating it to see what effect it has on my hair. Deep down we all know that pet food, no mater how many eggs and vegetables they put in, all comes from the same horse.
