I have had a lot of problems sleeping this week, more than usual due to attempting to get some serious writing done (serious amount of writing rather than serious writing, it's the same nonsense I always write). My workload means I am unable to switch off and as a result I am unable to switch back on in the morning. When I get home from court I can't find any motivation and have been forcing myself to do some work in my office every night so I can stick to my New Year's Resolution to do at least one creative career related task a day. A result of this fatigue is that I haven't been to a gig for a couple of weeks, so at least I am providing a service in allowing Nottingham's other so-called music champions to catch up.

Tonight I was due to go to The Maze where my old sound engineer Lauren was headlining with her band Thunderous Jones for their single launch, with Blue Vulture ("quite good") as support. I haven't seen Thunderous Jones before but played their new single a few weeks ago on The Sunday Alternative (if you missed it you might be able to hear it in a few weeks time on another podcast from Nottingham) and have wanted to see them live for ages. For all my piss taking, Blue Vulture are a fine live band that always put on a good show so it would have been good to see them too but events and circumstances conspired against me and my body informed me the hard way that enough was enough. On the way home I was fine; I collected Jack from my dad's house as usual and walked him along a very nice pathway that follows the River Lean, he seems to enjoy it and the quietness away from the main road helped to clear my head. However I realised that time was against me and I had to have dinner, a shower, and find something to wear with not enough time to do all three. Realising I had no dry jeans was the first problem followed swiftly by the hot water going off so I couldn't have a shower. It isn't like I work down a coal mine so would have settled for a liberal deodorant spray (this counts as a proper wash in some areas) but when I am stressed out I cope with it by falling asleep due to the massive headache it brings on. This is what happened, I didn't even get to eat my dinner as I fell asleep on the sofa and woke up at around half past ten, which is why I can write about it on today's blog as it is still Thursday.

Missing any gig is annoying but this was one I had been looking forward to it so it was especially bothersome. I had a brief conversation with Bainy about it so at least there are no grudges held. Hopefully my counterpart music champions/podcasters enjoyed watching some fine Nottingham music in a live music venue, if they found the place.

To purchase my audio books, albums, and books, please visit my Shop & Donations page.
I am trying to raise the money to extend The Sunday Alternative, read about it here.
We also need to fund a pilot episode of a new music and cookery show, read about it here.

Every penny that I receive via the PayPal button will be used to fund future projects such as podcasts, short films, comedy sketches, documentaries, and more. They will be made available for free online and I will not personally benefit financially. All help is greatly appreciated.
