Today was a day devoted to
working in my office, which consisted mostly of going through the music for
this week’s podcast. It is always pleasurable to sift through the emails and
listen to new music and in many cases be there at the beginning. My six songs
for this week are picked and the podcast looks like being another good one,
musically at least, technical stuff is in the hands of my curse guardian who
has left me alone since Friday 13th although I realise that I am tempting
fate by repeatedly mentioning her and sooner or later she will be back with a vengeance.
Maybe my computer will blow up and my fried body will be discovered in my
office, or what is left of my fried body after the dog has eaten most of me. It’s
how I’d like to go.
The podcast continues to do
well with listening figures; I’m not sure how this compares to other new music
podcasts especially the ones made in Nottingham by people who just pretend to
be into the music. I have decided against doing a Saturday bonus edition on a
regular basis because it did hurt the Sunday ratings a little, however I will
probably do some extra special things in the anniversary week in September. I will
maybe do a couple of shows devoted to the live sessions on the radio show, and
possibly one about the co-hosts with new bits put in (providing the former
co-hosts are up for it, I certainly want them to contribute to the documentary
I’m making next year for the fifth birthday). Checking the diary I see that the
official birthday, September 11th, falls on Friday this year so
something will be released on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
with a break on Saturday before the main event on Sunday 13th. Next
year the fifth birthday falls on a Sunday for the first time since the show
began so I’m looking forward to some big events that weekend. Next year I will
be looking at organising a special anniversary gig and a screening of the
documentary that weekend. There are some other surprises in the pipeline too
for next year, including something very big lined up for Nottingham with other
events in London. These all need a bit of financial help so I will be
reigniting the Indie GoGo campaign at some point, in the meantime you could just
donate and help all future projects using the PayPal button above.
Aside from this, I spent today
writing some more script for The Record Store Day Video (working title), even
though I now need to look for another person to help film it and time is
running out if I want it to be ready for release on the day itself. To fill the
time in a little I am going to have a musical interlude within the video, so I
will try and find a band or singer once I know I have someone reliable to film
it. This will be the challenge; Nottingham is full of everyone you need, but
reliability is something that is sadly lacking.
