I've done a little bit more writing regarding the secret radio comedy and am trying to finish the script for The Record Store Day Video (working title), this is on top of working on the pilot edition of Saturday Breakfast and attempting to research the next episode of Moonage Daydream to pick up where it left off. During depressive episodes I find that work helps me to keep the dark thoughts at bay which is why my to-do list is getting a little jumbled. Originally I had intended to work through this year's list in order so that I didn't end up tying myself in knots but it seems easier to look at each job in fits and starts to prevent boredom setting in. Moonage Daydream ended with the Ziggy Stardust retirement followed by The 1980 Floor Show, so at the moment I am reading up on the next stage to see what I can include in the 'comeback' edition. I don't want each individual podcast to be too lengthy so I am not worried about how many episodes I do or how much gets covered in each as long as it tells the story. David Bowie is a fascinating enough person for plenty of mileage yet.
Boredom is one thing but depression seems to be claiming a bigger hold over me than usual and this time around I find that I am struggling to cope. Mandi wants me to see a doctor about it but there are reasons why I don't want to. First of all there's the fact that I am registered with a crap doctors (Forest Practice, The Mary Potter Health Centre - shite), I also don't want to become reliant on tablets for the rest of my life, however long that is.
Despite feeling terrible at the moment, I managed today to get the lyrics to a comedy song all typed up as a complete draft. It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be because although I had notes and a good start, the ending didn't come to me straight away. I had to listen to 'Parklife' several times to get the rhythm just right, (the song is a parody of 'Parklife' for occasional readers who might be wondering), sometimes elongating a word so that it fits the timing. I wish I hadn't thought of it now to be honest, as it is something that isn't on the to-do list but as it is only a quick job it won't cause too much disruption.
Filming should be back on soon as I am meeting up with Oliver Smith this weekend to discuss our next move. The next move will be the Saturday Breakfast pilot, then The Record Store Day Video (working title) followed by another 'crowd fund' video appeal for a documentary. So if you would like to be a part of the creative process then please consider the PayPal button above this blog. I will see an improvement in my mood once work starts, providing things go right and whoever is responsible for the curse on me doesn't read this blog.
