I spent most of today sorting through my notes for the secret radio comedy script that myself and two others are writing as we are having a meeting tonight to bounce ideas around. A meeting in which we throw ideas around and make each other laugh (hopefully) will be just what I need at the moment as I am feeling a bit low due to what looks like a setback for my filming plans. The recording of the music and cookery pilot (it’s going to be called Saturday Breakfast) was something I had hoped to get done this month, but I have not heard from the guy whose company was going to be filming. As there are several filming projects in the pipeline this year this is obviously a bit of a pisser as I might have to start from the beginning again. None of the items I wanted to film will take particularly long so I was keen to get started, especially as it would have meant being able to cross a few things off and come a step closer to having my homework for 2015 handed in ahead of time. Panicking about it in January might be a little premature but I do tend to wobble at the first sign of things going wrong which when you live with depression isn’t healthy.

With regards the rest of my list, I have to look at the non-filming things on there to get on with those tasks for the time being instead. Once tonight has happened we will have a clearer idea regarding that particular project which is (for now) a one-off, and I have already started to make notes for the next episode of Moonage Daydream. I was intending to record some of these last year but they are so time consuming that 2014 just seemed to slip through my fingers, so I am hopeful of releasing four new episodes this year.

The communication problem with the filming also mucks up my hope to finally start work on The Sunday Alternative video series, having hoped to at the very least be able to film one a month. As the podcast is doing well, better than I ever expected to be honest, the time is right to expand on it. I am also talking to a few radio stations regarding the show but have so far not found a suitable home that will fulfill my needs for it (and BBC 6Music keep ignoring me – Decca Records turned down The Beatles remember?).

My new year resolution to do at least one creative thing every day is doing alright so far, I’m even keeping my daily blog reasonably up to date so I’m happy with the progress I am making. Audio book sales have gone down which was to be expected given that they are mostly Christmas titles and the new method of ‘selling’ them via donations and cutting out Bandcamp seems to be going okay. Bowie Day wasn’t the runaway success I was hoping for but it has been popular with those who bought a copy, I think people are put off by the fact that it is inspired by A Christmas Carol and jump to the conclusion that it is a Christmas story. This had made me think that although I’ll just have to treat it as a slow burn this year, at Christmas I should do another promotional push. Maybe I should have put it out before Christmas but Bowie’s birthday seemed ideal. Although I said that I wouldn’t do anymore audio books, I will be doing two more Christmas Dickens stories and recording Bowie Day in time for Christmas 2015. Assuming of course that I can find the time.
