I have finished typing up Bowie Day at last, and having read the end result I have to
say I’m very pleased with it. As I stated in the newsletter update, I am now
buzzing with promotional ideas despite it not being released until January. The
audio book side of it hit a snag as I was unable to print out the book due to
the printer needing some attention. I attempted to read aloud from the computer
screen but as anyone who has ever read text from a computer will know, the
scroll arrows have a mind of their own. One minute I’m reading along with no
problem and the next I’m clicking on the scroll arrow and nothing is happening
until the moment the computer decides to respond to every click at once and all
the text flies past in a blur. This doesn’t happen with paper so I’ll be
recording the audio book with great ease rather than stress. This has also
caused me to postpone the recording of this year’s Dickens Christmas audio
book, as the only copy I have of the particular story I am doing is on my
computer. My whole week is fucked so I will at least be able to relax over the
weekend. Next week’s list looks like this week’s with the added stress of
having a gig on Friday night (I’m hosting Blue Vulture’s album launch – should be
quite good), and this week being a Sunday Alternative
week. I had wanted to record it on a weekday so I can have a clear weekend
again, but it looks like I’m going to be working after all (no time and a half
for the self employed on a Saturday, I am a trooper).
With that setback in mind I have
turned to a few writing tasks that I can hopefully get cracking on with this
year. There have been too many setbacks with people letting me down so I am
glad to have found someone at last who is as enthusiastic as I am. I am
constantly aware of the clock ticking away at my life; my original plan was to
have everything on my to-do list finished before I am forty so that I can start
a new chapter. Although you wouldn’t know it to look at me (please humour me)
that birthday is only two years away so I have a lot of work still to do.
