Apart from an attempt to wade
through some admin and tidy up my office a little bit, I didn’t manage to get a
lot done today. My office looks no tidier so maybe I need either a bigger
office or a big cupboard for shoving things in.
I get a sense of satisfaction
at the sight of a vastly reduced inbox, and at being able to listen to new
music. The Sunday Alternative is well stocked
for the next few weeks but as it relies on new music I have to be careful as
the songs (in many cases) have a certain window in which to play them. I have
to note down all the release dates and check that they will still be relevant
on the Sunday of release. As the podcast is fortnightly it is important to get
things right, next time you listen to the radio or a music podcast please
remember all the hard work that goes into it. Unless of course you listen to
commercial radio in which case forget that, as they just turn up and talk shite
and haven’t even heard real music before. The real grafters are those that don’t
have a pre-set playlist to accompany us through a show. Due to the pressure I don’t
want to do the show weekly, but I am tempted to maybe record two editions; part
one and two for the Sunday release. When the video series kicks off it will be
broadcast fortnightly on an alternating basis between the audio and video
versions.
Messages are still coming in
regarding the press release about the American show and the state of the local
music scene in general. It is good to know that this is still rumbling on,
although it is a bit calmer than the weekend when it first went online.
I’m never quite sure what
makes the best entries for a daily blog; writing exclusively about my work is
difficult because there’s not a lot of engaging blog fodder in the fact that I’ve
been in my office all day. If I do manage an argument with a member of the
public or someone who thinks himself a figure of authority then I walk away
quite pleased with myself at the fact that I have material.
However, work is all I have to
write about at the moment so I will stick to my usual plan to always write with
honesty about my day. There’s a lot to do and I am aware of how empty my diary
has become, I write in when I start and finish a particular project and the
release date but there are too many gaps at the moment for my liking.
