Okay so yesterday wasn’t the
last ever blog, but maybe this one will be.
I’ve had a bad back today, a
problem I have had for as long as I can remember although was made worse during
my time as a postman. Because of this I had to miss a gig that I had been
really looking forward to, but at least it gave me the chance to catch up with
some work and record the American show.
Or at least it would have
done, had it not been for the fact that our Internet connection has completely
vanished for some reason. There were songs in emails that I needed for the
show, and even if I had all the songs ready to record I wouldn’t have been able
to send it over. Behind our house there is a block of student flats and
sometimes we pick up their wifi signal, it isn’t very strong but it is better
than nothing. Luck being luck of course, I couldn’t pick it up and had to take
a tram to my dad’s house to send an email from his computer to inform Robin
Hood Radio that I couldn’t do a show this week. I imagined that as soon as I got
home the wifi would work, in the same way that your wallet always reappears as
soon as you have cancelled all of your cards, but it was adamantly not going to
return today.
Is there etiquette for this sort of thing? This is the 21st century and not being able to piggyback a neighbour’s broadband is a very 21st century problem. Can you knock on their door and ask them to check that they are still online, and if they aren’t then tell them to get it sorted as I can’t connect to their wifi? If you can’t do that then I think it is about time that you could.
