My new treat to myself every
Wednesday is pork scratchings. I’m not sure if I’ve ever eaten them before now
although I am a big fan of crackling when I have roast pork and I assumed pork scratching
to be roughly similar. It was during my pre-show visit to the shop last week
that I saw bags for 49p each and bought two out of curiosity. They were absolutely
beautiful although I imagine that they don’t form part of your five-a-day so it
probably isn’t advisable to eat them a lot. I will be saving my pork scratching
fix for Wednesdays in future.
The show seemed a lot more
laid back this week for some reason, perhaps because we were fired up with
ideas to help save the station after Darren and I went to a meeting last night
with a couple of colleagues from the station. It really would be a shame if
Trent Sound was to disappear out of the lives of the people of Nottingham, (and
other areas) as there isn’t anything else like it. Apart from the BBC, which
only occasionally plays local music, we are the only local music station that
caters across the genres. NottinghamLIVE
is perhaps the most important show around as far as the Nottingham music scene
is concerned; some people still listen to The Beat on BBC
Radio Nottingham out of nostalgia, but they have allowed us to overtake them in
terms of influence.
This week we played host to
Aja, a singer I have met a handful of times at ROFL Audio (and have a little
crush on) but haven’t really engaged with until tonight. She performed her set
in the second hour, and Cassia carried the interview by herself. Neither Darren
nor myself are really all that comfortable doing interviews and it’s rather
pleasing that Cassia did such a brilliant job as it might mean she has the job
from now on.
