The radio show wasn't an overly enjoyable experience this week, although I can't speak for Darren who might have loved it. We were in the new studio, (known to us Trent Sound veterans as 'the old studio'), with a slightly smaller desk and we had technical problems from the start. I couldn't hear myself talking in my headphones, and we kept getting feedback in our ears. Eventually I just took the headphones off and took it on trust that I was broadcasting. I remember the reluctance from the presenters to move to the new studio, (which is now of course the old studio) a couple of years ago, which seems silly now as that was much better. Of course most of it was unnecessary as we didn't touch 95% of the buttons and faders, there isn't a radio station in the world that uses everything on the desk. The new/old studio was insanely hot too, which didn't improve my frustration at the way the show was going. Comments from listeners suggested that we didn't sound good, (sound quality, they were talking about sound quality), so I might get there a bit earlier than usual to prepare on Sunday. I don't want The Sunday Alternative to sound bad if the BBC finally see sense this week.
