Radio wise, it has been a busy week already, with trying to get things in place for the return of
The Sunday Alternative, and deputising last night. Yesterday was of course
NottinghamLIVE day. Although the show itself seemed to go without any major disasters, or minor ones for that matter, I don't feel as if I was on my best form. I'm my own biggest critic, and an obsessive perfectionist, so at the end of the three hours I was a little disorientated at the fact that I simply wasn't very good this week. Hopefully it'll pass by Sunday given the amount of hype that has surrounded the return of The Sunday Alternative, with large portions of the media informed about it I will be a nervous wreck prior to the start of the show. On the other hand, that nervous adrenalin serves me well, so maybe the show will be an amazing piece of radio? I put out a call on Facebook, (how very retro) advertising that I want an 'open mic night' policy on the show, and that singers can just turn up and play. There are also two live sessions booked, possibly Andy Haynes returning as guest co-host, Jason Loftus from
Nottingham LACE might pop along, and through my press release I have gone and invited several members of the press along. We only have a small building, so if it goes to plan it will be very cosy in there.
Please don't get the impression that I am placing
The Sunday Alternative above
NottinghamLIVE in order of importance because I'm not. It's just that it is my baby at the end of the day, and I want it to go well for the sake of the listeners.
NottinghamLIVE is a pleasure to do too, and I give my all to every show I do, and that goes for all my podcasts and the American show too.
Our advertised live guest Acolourfall couldn't make it tonight due to an injury, but they recommended their own replacement, a singer called Brad Dear. I have to say that although I recognised his name, I was unfamiliar with his music until he played. He's appearing at Deerstock this year, and I highly recommend seeing him. Again he falls into my 'there's too many one man and guitar acts around but I don't include him because he's really good' category. What a pity he doesn't pastiche Bob Dylan, he'd be world famous by now!
