When I was at Trent Sound, and The Sunday Alternative was at the height of its popularity, I was accused of being a self-promoter as if that was a bad thing. It was largely meant in jest, but I imagine that a few people missed the joke and actually thought I was a self-serving egomaniac who only thought about myself. Although I'm not really an arrogant person, (and if I come across that way, it is just an act as I'm about as insecure as it is possible to be), I don't see what is wrong with being proud of what you do. The local media tend to ignore my achievements, and by local media I mean LeftLion, the arts magazine. I had a top rated radio show on Sunday nights, I play Nottingham music on an American radio show, yet they still never ask me for my opinion or offer to do a feature on me. I know they're an insular organisation, but I do wonder what I'd have to do to get their attention; make an Oscar winning film? Win the Nobel Prize? Find a cure for cancer?

I was meant to be filming the Nottingham Live TV show this afternoon, but for some reason it was postponed. I spent most of today catching up on some work, (on a Saturday, I am a trooper), before going to the Trent Sound to appear on Nottingham LACE. Originally I was going to talk about the TV show, but decided to wing it instead, and return to the glory days when I used to turn up and wind Jason up on air. Surely the listeners have missed me making fun of Jason and seeing how far I can go? That in itself is radio gold.

With nothing to talk about, I decided to still mention White Collar Zoo TV, which was what I originally went in to talk about, but made a promise to myself that I wouldn't use the slot as a platform for self promotion of my other projects. Many said it couldn't be done, but I was so determined that I prepared a list of questions that Jason wouldn't be allowed to ask me.

I'm glad I went to the trouble of reading that list out live on the air, just to make sure that I stuck with it and couldn't be accused of blatant self-promotion.
