I have fallen behind on work commitments for one reason or another at the moment, partly due to lack of motivation. For me the end product is my prize but I don’t like the process leading up to it. It was the same situation when I was doing the radio, I used to hate booking guests and sorting through the music I was going to play, but I loved the two hours that I was broadcasting around the world and was full of adrenalin afterwards. As I don’t particularly enjoy recording audio books or even writing a daily blog, it is worth it for the satisfaction it gives me when I can knock off for the day having done a day’s work. I wouldn’t want to plant an apple tree from scratch and have the responsibility of watering it and tending to it, but I want to eat an apple occasionally.

The review blog IMHO is behind a few entries and I am way off schedule with everything else I had planned to do this year. This year has been nowhere near as productive as it should have been for whatever reason, although I am pleased with what I have done it isn’t, for me at least, anywhere near enough.

To be honest, I have spent most of my time just lately thinking about the (the) mushy pea stall at Goose Fair. After all my efforts to save the bowl and ladle tradition which was successful last year, I am concerned for this year. It happened when mushy pea-gate first hit the headlines in 2010; the bowl returned in 2011 only for it to be replaced by squirty bottles again in 2012. If they decide to go against public opinion again this year then the future of Goose Fair is in jeopardy and I don’t know if I have enough fight left in me to start the protest again.

This afternoon I made my daily visit through the fairground site and saw that the (the) mushy pea stall had been erected. As I took photographs I got talking to the man in the above photo who was doing nothing behind the counter, we talked about mushy peas and how Goose Fair wouldn’t be the same without it. I managed to slip in the big question, and am happy to report that the bowl and ladle will be returning. As I tweeted what I had just had confirmed to me, my mood lifted as I can now enjoy the fair.
