I had more to drink than I usually would on Friday night although I wasn’t drunk, but as I was drinking lager so I had a chemical headache yesterday morning when I was hoping to record The Sunday Alternative before we went to town. Talking Jack to the park helped clear my head a bit but the day was a write off as far as working was concerned. What didn’t help to clear my head was the two pints of Guinness I drank yesterday afternoon. I don’t know when I lost the ability to drink alcohol but I used to be able to drink all day and all night at the weekend and wake up on Monday morning and go to work. Last night I had planned to go to a gig but after watching Georgie Rose play in Trinity Square yesterday teatime I went home for an afternoon kip on the sofa, intending to have an hour to recharge my batteries. That didn’t go to plan as the gig started at nine o’clock which was exactly the time that Mandi woke me up. Having had about two hours sleep and feeling foggy I wasn’t going to make the gig as I only wanted to go and see the support band.

This morning and for most of the day I felt as though I was wading through custard, I had already sorted the music for this week’s podcast so I decided to leave it until I returned home from lunch at my dad’s. Once I had got it recorded and uploaded I stopped work again and took Jack out. I’ve got a pretty intense day at work tomorrow as I am determined to finish the Nathan McKenzie audio book if it bloody well kills me, which would be unfortunate as I have two other audio books to record after that. My two day ‘holiday’ from the courtroom has not been as productive as I imagined, although I have already recorded five hours worth of my brother’s long and complicated novel so maybe it’s my fault for writing such an unrealistic list in the first place.
