Having a daily work list is
proving harder than I thought it would, especially when little things get in
the way and prevent you from getting on. For this week I have abandoned it and
prepared for next week instead. Next Saturday (not tomorrow) I’ll be out all
day at the Waterfront Festival as I’m reviewing it for The
Nottingham Evening Post (as I still call it), this means that The Sunday Alternative will have to be recorded by Friday at
the latest. The week after is going to be different as I have given priority to
finishing quite a long audio book (Whatever Happened To
Nathan McKenzie by Jack Oliver, not my dog the other Jack Oliver, my
brother) so that will be my only job between Monday and Friday. If I only do a
couple of chapters a night I should be able to finish it. Although it isn’t
going to be released until Christmas I want it out of the way. Once that is
done and dusted I will be moving on to something else, it is much more
realistic to spend a week doing something exclusivly rather than messing about
doing odd bits all over the place. Hopefully this will make my job a lot less
stressful if it’s all planned out, I’m even thinking of what I can do next
year.
The
Sunday Alternative video series
is at a stalemate, and no café seems to understand the Saturday
Breakfast idea, so I’m using the time to concentrate on other
avenues despite how frustrating things are becoming. I’m writing a few short pieces
that can be filmed quickly providing nothing major happens.
I’m supposed to be at a gig
tonight, (I have a choice between two EP launches) but with a writing deadline
coming ever closer I have to stay in and knuckle down. At least by not going to
gigs I am forming a common bond with my fellow champions of the Nottingham
music scene.
