I had a reply from a café that also hosts live music in response to my quest for a venue to record the pilot episode of the cookery and music series. It wasn’t the best reply I’ve ever received but it wasn’t a no. the place is closed on Mondays so we could use it then with no pressure of time; on the downside they want three hundred pounds for the hire. With other costing I reckon that we could do the pilot for five hundred. This is a lot of money to spend making a half hour show, especially as the pilot was going to act as a fundraising plea. I’d really like to use the venue but I don’t want to pay that much per episode, we could of course film several episodes in one day but that would add to the pressure and potentially cause problems.

My plan was for the venue to co-operate given that I am essentially making a series of adverts for them. Some explanation is required as I didn’t fully describe the whole set up in detail. The place is in Hockley so pitching an idea is quite a risk. It wouldn’t shock me if they turned down the idea before doing it themselves and not giving me any money or credit, (this is known as the Broadway Cinema method).

My new found working method of sticking to the list seems to be bearing fruit. The archive of American shows is now up to date on Mixcloud and the show blog. Hopefully now I can keep it up to date, perhaps by uploading on a Sunday evening straight after broadcast. It might even make sense to do it in advance and time it to go live at a certain time as I do with The Sunday Alternative.

Regarding my blog of a few days ago where I wrote about a box of toys outside a house waiting to be taken away by the bin men, the box was not collected but I discovered this evening that all but one of the toys have managed to either find a new home or formed a gang and broken free to go on the road as fugitives. Sadly there was one toy left.

This character is a victim of our modern day obsession with looks, how else do you explain why all the cute toys have been rescued but not this one? Yes, I did pick it up and put it in my pocket. He/she/it is now drying off after going through the washing machine, the fact that we were doing a mixed coloured wash load is purely down to luck. The label tells me that the character has something to do with Digimon, something that has passed me by. I’m going to keep him and let him live in my office because he’s an outsider that didn’t run with the crowd, just like myself.
