I’m starting to wonder if I
have some kind of affliction that makes time disappear away from me. This
morning I was awake with hours to spare yet arrived at the studio during the
one o’clock news and so had to very quickly throw my songs into the right order.
The show was a bit stilted as I had no live guest and no co-presenter and so it
was just the music and me. It’s a good job that I get to play whatever music I
chose on the show; otherwise I’d have gone crazy in there all by myself. During
the show I attempted to chip away at the pile of emails that are stacked high
in my inbox, some of them going back to the Christmas holidays, as I simply don’t
get the time to dedicate to answering them. I have the two email addresses, one
is the address that I use publicly and one is personal, but the personal one is
the one on my business card so I have dropped a bollock somewhere. Most of the
emails are songs for radio consideration which I always listen to myself, (some
radio people have people to do that for them, but I feel it is fraudulent to
present a radio show if you don’t care about the music, not naming any names of
course). I also receive a shit load of press releases, and other stuff. It
would have been easy for me to simply delete any message that I hadn’t read,
and start again with a clean inbox, but I would be worried about missing
something.
Once the show had finished and
I had been round my dad’s for lunch, I went up into my office and tried to
plough through the work I have yet to do. February and January have been a bit
of a waste of time really, apart from radio of course, and sitting in my office
with Post-It notes staring down at me is a rather depressing situation. All I
really ended up doing tonight is a rearrangement exercise of the things I need
to do, writing a to-do list for tomorrow that probably will only be half
completed by the time I get fed up of it. Most of it seems to be emailing
people to chase up previous emails, and planning my next move. I have an idea
for a podcast series that I can do from home and won’t cost anything to make as
I have all the material to hand already. Rather than committing myself to a
weekly ‘record and release’ I will record the entire series at my own pace
before releasing it weekly at a later time.
The comedy sketch project will
be made later on once there’s some money available for a film crew and
costumes. Some of the sketches are a little ambitious and will cost a little
bit to make, so if you’re a regular blog reader I would really appreciate a
small consideration via my PayPal button above this blog. I think it is a fair system;
I use the PayPal money to make something that I will make available completely
free of charge. Nobody loses anything; nobody has to worry about not getting his
or her investment back for example.
