After having to have last week off from radio duties, it was good to be back in Trent Towers (not an actual tower) for NottinghamLIVE. Of course the traffic was fucking ridiculous and I arrived just before the show started and Cassia arrived shortly after the show had already started. I still think that people who work in the media should have some kind of special treatment, maybe a police escort with lights and sirens blazing. It is an emergency of sorts if we can’t get into position to provide an entire county with its musical news and tunes.

Rebecca King (sitting)

I picked a good show to return to, with Rebecca King coming in to talk about her upcoming EP launch in the first hour, and Anwyn Williams performing in the second. Everything went smoothly for a change, apart from a slight bit of interference which meant that we once again had a football match playing in our headphones (and presumably broadcasting it). We made sure the live set was football free by turning off the music output in the studio, and amazingly remembering to switch it back on afterwards, something I failed to do immediately when I interviewed Barrie Masters on The Sunday Alternative a couple of weeks ago.

Anwyn Williams

The only hitch was that the broadcast stream on my laptop was playing up and kept cutting out when I was trying to make a recording, so I was unable to record Anwyn’s set. Since the station stopped doing ‘listen again’ (and even before that just in case, but especially now it’s our only way to archive) I have made sure to keep all of our live performances. To preserve the performance I videoed them, but as I was only using a regular camera that isn’t really cut out for such a task I will have to wait and see whether I have something worth keeping.

Matt was off this week, so all photos taken on my camera
