Captain Dangerous have been on
my wish list for a live radio session since I started in radio. I have worked
with the band (as a whole) only once, in 2010 when I filmed them performing for
a proposed video series in conjunction with Night Flight
magazine. Somebody somewhere has a video recording of me interviewing Adam and
Miles in a graveyard, which is annoying as I like to keep as much of my work as
possible. Adam has performed twice on The Sunday Alternative,
which is great as it’s always a pleasure to work with him, but the band as a
whole have so far eluded me on radio. They were booked well in advance to
appear on NottinghamLIVE today, but a couple of
days ago had to pull out due to a family related commitment from one of the
band. Adam was very apologetic about it, and deep down I was a bit pissed off
due to the fact that this had been in the diary for ages. It was a bit in the
air anyway due to our ongoing issues with the sound engineers for Wednesdays,
so there was always the danger that we might have had to cancel anyway.
Just when we thought that we
would have to broadcast for the very first time without a live guest (we've had
a few close calls), Darren managed to arrange a live performer who didn’t need
the help of a sound engineer as he was willing to play an acoustic guitar and
sing into the studio broadcast microphones. It wasn’t until he arrived at Trent
Towers (not an actual tower) that I realised that we had worked together
before. Blessing was Sara Louise’s guitarist when she performed on the show on
May 15th this year.
Without a few members of ‘background’
people in the studio, we had to do our own photo once again. Cassia took the
photo of Darren and I posing with Blessing which was a pity as I think the
three of us should be in the pictures, but she was fine with it.

The show as a whole was
brilliant, a total train wreck of a programme in which we rambled around a
range of subjects; some actually had something to do with the local music
scene.
