We were supposed to be going
to Brighton today for a long weekend to celebrate our fifth anniversary
together, but with a new dog in the house we had to cancel it for a bit. I’ve
no idea when such an opportunity will arise again as I have too much work on at
the moment. As a compromise we are going out for the day tomorrow, (on top of
Saturday when I give Mandi my undivided attention for the whole day so she gets
two days of me this week) so I had to knuckle down and get some work done
today. After taking Jack for a walk around the park opposite our house, I had
breakfast and shut myself in my office and got on with it.
Once I had waded through my
emails and checked if anything useful was happening on Facebook, it was time to
crack on and record another edition of Steve’s LP Box
ready for the third series. I’m looking forward to getting this series out in a
different way this time, the second series all dropped on the same day, but
this time they’re going out weekly. Today I recorded an episode about Presenting The Fabulous Ronettes, which means that I have
two left to record before the series is due to be released.
While the recordings were
processing I tried to chip away at the blog too, and get some other loose ends
tied up at the same time; adding old radio shows to Mixcloud and trying to do
the show blogs. However, I couldn’t really get into the swing of it as I found
it stressful having too many plates spinning. I did manage to get another
Charles Dickens Christmas audio book recorded too, which I’ll be releasing on
Sunday 22nd December. That date will be the day of The Sunday Alternative Christmas Special at lunchtime and
the Christmas special of The Sound Of Nottingham UK,
so it’ll be quite a day of it for me (Sunday is a working day for me – trooper).
That particular Sunday was supposed to be the screening date of the film of The Sunday Alternative, but that isn’t going to be made this
year now due to funding issues (check the link below the lines in the blog).
Instead of our Brighton trip
we are going to Matlock for the day tomorrow, and taking Jack out on Saturday.
I have a review gig on Saturday night that Mandi isn’t bothered about, and I’m
looking forward to having Sunday evening off for a change. This move to
afternoons could be brilliant for the show especially with all the ideas I have
got for it.
My cat Peanut came into my
office and sat on my lap for a bit. Both the cats have been a bit disturbed by
Jack’s arrival and haven’t been too attentive lately so it was nice to spend
some time with her. I have tried to let them know that we still love them but
they aren’t adjusting very well to the change in the household. We’ve had a
breakthrough of sorts because Kevina has started to come downstairs to eat her
food, but still hisses when she gets too near to Jack. My plan to remake that
gas fire advert from the 1980s isn’t going too well.
