The month of October hasn’t
been my most productive this year, although I have still got through quite a
bit of work under my belt.
Four live sessions for The Sound of Nottingham UK; Starscreen, Sinister Minister,
Priory Jones and the Mission and Lisa De Ville.
Four editions of the above show, four hours in total.
Four editions of The Sunday Alternative, eight hours in total.
Four editions of NottinghamLIVE, twelve hours in total, although it should have been five shows but I skived off last week to go to a gig.
Four Robin Hood Sessions podcasts.
One Moonage Daydream podcast (I promise to be more consistent with this project next year.
Recorded one edition of Steve’s LP Box, which will be released on Friday November 29th as one of series three.
One review for The Nottingham Evening Post (as I still call it).

Now that I’ve written it down
I suppose it is quite impressive, although I still keep beating myself up about
the fact that I haven’t got long left this year to try and achieve everything I
wanted to do.
I have mentioned before that I
am taking a two week break from The Sunday Alternative,
and have been making plans for the return. This time it could become the show
that it was originally supposed to be when I first started to do it. Hopefully
it will make the show an even better listening experience, and allow me to build
momentum. The documentary about the show has hit a bit of a dead-end at the
moment, so I may be tempted to take my time over it and allow it to coincide
with the third anniversary of the show next September. It was the week of the
second anniversary when I thought of it so it was sadly too late to do anything
about it at the time. The fact that we’re at the top of November tells me that
my plan to put on a free screening on the same day as the show’s Christmas
special, which will also be the broadcast date of the Christmas special of the
American show so it would have been a busy but enjoyable day.
(Can I just interrupt this
blog to point out that every penny that gets put in the PayPal account at the
top of this blog will be used to create free online content and host free
screenings of everything I make. There is no such thing as too small an amount,
and I appreciate every penny and would like to thank everyone for donating so
far).
I will be announcing the all
new Sunday show on the show’s blog and Facebook page nearer the time, once I’ve
tied up a few loose ends. If anything else it will make BBC 6 Music regret the
missed opportunity to have The Sunday Alternative
on their schedule.
A couple of new ideas are
currently in the Post-It notes on the office wall stage, and are a bit time
consuming to give immediate attention to. Next year is shaping up to be a busy
one, although I do find myself saying that every year. I really need to apply
myself during 2014 and work harder than I have ever done. One project that has
become possible is a documentary project that might involve a lot of digging around
trying to trace people. Maybe I’ll be able to find a happy medium between the
things I do out of the house such as filming, and the podcasts and various
other things at home.
Or I could take a leaf out of
this chap’s book!
