Saturday 26th October

Last weekend we didn’t get out early enough for us to go for breakfast, and this weekend we simply couldn’t be bothered so I got to take over the kitchen once again and cook us up a breakfast treat. I’ve written before about how I enjoy doing breakfast on a Saturday, as a good breakfast can set you up for the day. Saturday should be a leisurely day involving a long breakfast, a read of the papers, and a wander round the shops and generally being in no particular rush to get anywhere. Earlier this week when I arranged my projects I found a piece of paper in a drawer outlining an idea for an online series which I called Saturday Breakfast. I couldn’t find any reference to it in a blog (although I didn’t conduct an in-depth search though), which means I probably thought about it after the whole ‘Bad Movie Club’ business with Broadway Cinema, and had developed a barrier to stop my ideas from being stolen. Having read through these notes and actually done breakfast these last two Saturdays, I have to say I am starting to wonder if the project has legs. It would have to be next week I suppose due to time constraints, and I’m not sure if I would do it weekly or film an entire set over one or two days. At the bottom of the piece of paper is the line ‘live musical guest??’ I have very little recollection of coming up with this idea, so how I thought I could incorporate music into it too is going to remain a mystery as I didn’t write the date on the piece of paper, and my last three years of diaries have nothing written about it. Also in the notes I have written about the possibility of doing it live. Again, I have no idea when I wrote this but I’m giving serious thought to the idea of developing this further. Perhaps I have an affliction that means that even in my sleep I am coming up with ideas that my awake self has no idea about. Maybe the drawer that I found the piece of paper in has a window to a parallel world in which I am a slightly more successful version of myself and I can afford to randomly discard notes with ideas on. In this parallel world I am doing a radio show on 6Music and directing films with ease. There’s a part of me that feels as if I should look in this drawer on a regular basis to see what ideas the successful me has had and then basically rip them off and try to become as successful as my counterpart does.
