Monday 7th October

I felt a little bit flat after last night’s live edition of The Sunday Alternative as I’ve never really been keen on doing the show alone. During the show I decided to bring back the live music element to the show, as it wasn’t something that I wanted to stop doing. When I returned home I had a long list of things I wanted to do; the show blog, catch up with The Sound of Nottingham UK blog, sort out the weekend photographs, and send a load of emails in preparation for Monday morning and so on. Sunday night is a pretty good time to send important emails, as email traffic is very slow to the point of none existent at the weekend, and so a Sunday night message is at the top of the Monday morning pile. As it turned out, I didn’t do any of these things as I watched Family Guy (still no thanks from BBC3 for doing the show in a different time slot so people don’t miss the brand new Family Guy episode), and then started watching something else. The weird thing is that I can’t remember what it was that I watched, but fell asleep in front of the television.

When I woke up I knew that I had a lot to do, (I do the majority of my work at night due to my nocturnal nature) but I couldn’t get going. There’s quite a lot that still needs doing before the year is out, and several exciting ideas still filtering through my over-worked brain that have legs, so I get an overwhelming feeling of anxiety whenever I sit at my desk and see what I haven’t done yet. I am going to do two Dickens Christmas audio books this year, and series three of Steve’s LP Box will be the last of that particular podcast. My original plan to knock the podcasts on the head next year won’t quite happen as planned, as I am not going to have the time to do the three particular series that I had hoped to do. This kind of fucks with my plans to dedicate next year to filming projects, but I’m sure I can manage to divide my time between the two.

My big headache at the moment is The Sunday Alternative film, which has hit a brick wall. I’m trying desperately to raise money to make the film and put on a free screening, but haven’t really made enough money nor got anywhere with it (check the message below this blog). It would be a shame if I couldn’t do it, as I had planned to do the screening on December 22nd, which is the same Sunday as the Christmas edition of the show and so I envisaged declaring that day as ‘Sunday Alternative Day’.

One thing I was supposed to do last night was to release edition two of The Robin Hood Sessions, but falling asleep threw that out of the window. This week it is Angie Niccals, who recorded with me on Tuesday 27th August, my birthday.
