At teatime yesterday I went to a meeting with a recording studio in Nottingham city centre, to organise recording some exclusive sessions for the American radio show
The Sound Of Nottingham UK. ROFL Audio have a good reputation within the music scene, and I already have a relationship with them as they do the sound engineering for all of Trent Sound's live music sessions. I now have a regular booking on Tuesday evenings to record these, which will only be played in America, although they will eventually be archived on a dedicated Mixcloud page. There's already quite a bit of interest in this from bands and musicians, so I have high hopes of collecting quite a strong collection of material. Publicity-wise, I want to get this new era for the show featured in a local newspaper in Connecticut, in addition to the fanfare that I'll blast out here in Nottingham.
The American show has also brought about another promotional idea involving a Kickstarter campaign. The dream is to raise enough money to go to Connecticut with a few bands, put on a gig and also do the radio show live. This will of course cost a bloody fortune and might never happen, but it'll be interesting to see what happens. I haven't yet set up the account, but will eventually get around to it.
