Today is of course radio day, which I was looking forward to after last week. I lacked the manic energy of the last show, but it was enjoyable enough. It could have been a bit of a disaster as I missed the bus and had to walk to the studio, something that I sometimes don't mind doing during the day when I'm not in a particular rush. With a show to do, it's a little more of an inconvenience. However, I got there at about quarter to seven, all fired up and ready to go. We had a small interview with Jade and Matt from the band The Golden Troubadours, who were promoting their new EP and the launch gig this coming Friday. Our live guest was Hayley Queen, who has an amazing voice and I imagine won't be doing her day job for much longer with talent like that.

My new feature of a weekly cover version was dealt with by playing The Petebox's version of 'Lithium'. If I'd thought of it earlier, we should really have played it last Wednesday as it was Kurt Cobain's birthday. In addition to this, I introduced a new feature, Tenuous Link To Nottingham. The premise is rather simple, we play Nottingham bands and musicians of course, but we neglect a small pocket of that remit without realising it. There are musicians born in Nottingham who have gone on to be part of a band with no Nottingham connection. The inaugural song for this feature was 'Personal Jesus' by Depeche Mode, as they have a Nottingham connection in Andy Fletcher. As a Nottingham musician, he has every right to be included in our show, even if he is part of an Essex band, so that is the basic premise of the feature. Darren and I exchanged messages about this, and came to the conclusion that this wasn't going to be a long term series, as the pool is very shallow to begin with.

There is a problem with the lighting in the studio, that makes me look fat in every picture.
