We all know the name of the footballer who has taken a super injunction out against the media to stop the publication of details of his affair with Imogen Thomas.

(unrelated photo, I am not implying anything)

The super injunction is of course a laughing stock in itself, as everyone knows who it is. Not that I am going to say anything.

The footballer's name has been plastered all over twitter, and in yesterday's Sunday Herald a photo of the footballer was plastered all over the front page. The edoitor says that Scotland are not covered by the legal embargo. Fittingly, they didn't put the picture on their own website.

I have mixed feelings about this situation. On one hand, I have always believed that the gutter press should not have the right to print ANYTHING that doesn't relate to their job of work. We the public have absolutely no right to news of anything to do with a person's private life. Actors should only be photographed and written about at film premieres and on location. Footballers should only be written about when they are on the pitch.

On the other hand, a footballer for a big club with a high profile, (lets, JUST FOR EXAMPLE say Manchester United), who portrays himself as a family man, will get bitten on the arse if caught fucking former Big Brother contestants.

Imogen Thomas is well over her Warhol allocated fifteen minutes of fame and has spent the intervening years since leaving the Big Brother house getting her top off. She knew full well that the footballer was married. She didn't give any thought to the feelings of Mrs Giggs (just to give her an alias) or the children. At the end of the day, there was a drink in it for her.
