Today is Tuesday, not Monday.
This morning people on Facebook were posting about having to go back to work as
if they were part of a chain gang, this prompted me to post a reminder that
although today feels like a Monday, and everyone should cheer up as the working
week ahead is only four days long.
As part of my preparation for
the reboot of The Sunday Alternative, I spent
most of the day tying up some loose ends regarding the show that I had never
got around to sorting out. The blog is now up to date, as is the Mixcloud
archive and the photo collection on both Flikr and Facebook. All that is left
to do is the Soundcloud page that features one song from each live session. I
have decided not to use the Mixcloud for the new podcast series, as I thought
it might be a good idea to leave that collection as just the Trent Sound shows.
For the benefit of anyone new to the show, the Mixcloud is a good way to find a
feel for the show. My intention is to upload the podcasts to the Internet
Archive and embed the player straight onto the blog; this has the added
advantage of keeping a pretty good listener count as Mixcloud is unreliable.
There’s also the fact that Mixcloud have ‘done a Myspace/Facebook/Twitter’ and
changed things around to the point of confusion and ruined the look of the
site. I think Tom from Myspace should appear as the public face of a campaign
to stop easy-to-use websites turning themselves into these complicated
entities, as he knows only too well the peril of fucking things up.
When the video series is
sorted, it will run fortnightly along with the audio podcast that will be
released alternating Sundays. All of the other Internet places with regard the
show will be dusted down ready to start again; the blog, the Facebook and
Twitter, the Flikr album and the Soundcloud page. I might tidy up the YouTube
and Vimeo channels before the launch of the video series and put the show on
there rather than pissing about with another one (and the added ball ache of
setting up a new email address). The videos could also be embedded on the blog
I suppose, and promoted to the blog as aone stop shop for both the audio and
video.
