I have several projects in the pipeline that are all ready to roll; the main one being the documentary about The Sunday Alternative along with the comedy stuff and the other things I’ve mentioned on the blog before. The sticking point is the lack of a film crew that I can rely on. It would seem that once again Nottingham’s creative folk are content to not actually do anything other than waste time. If I’m going to collaborate with someone then I am going to have to trust them to stay the distance, which is something that is lacking. The trouble with Nottingham’s creative media type people is that most of them don’t get beyond printing business cards; if you trust Facebook and Twitter then you will think that there are film makers around every corner but that simply isn’t the case. It isn’t as if I want the earth from these people, just a commitment to two weekly series of six episodes, a documentary, and if that goes well a couple of short films. They may even make some money from it. That of course depends on people donating, and in return being able to watch it for free with a free screening thrown in and the chance to ask questions later.

I’m starting to get a bit stressed out by it, as I don’t just want to throw out some camera phone quality stuff, even though camera phones have come a long way since the days of four minutes worth of pixilated footage.

On the plus side, the podcasts are coming along brilliantly. The Sunday Alternative’s return is right on schedule for Sunday 4th May, and the audio version will this time around be all about new music. I have a huge amount of tracks that has been sent in, and I now have a handful of DVDs of the new film Svengali to give away as a competition prize. This is a rather fitting prize because of the tenuous connection between the film and the show. Svengali stars Vicky McClure, who was born in Nottingham and is now loved around the world. Just like The Sunday Alternative.
