Having been let down so many
times by time wasters, this evening I had a wonderfully productive meeting with
a very nice chap called Oliver Smith who runs his own production company. He
answered a call to arms on Twitter looking for filmmakers and we had arranged
to meet in town for a coffee and ideas throw out. I was relieved to find that
he likes my ideas, and that I now have a light at the end of the tunnel
regarding both the video version of The Sunday Alternative
and the music/cookery series Saturday Breakfast.
Budget wise, it all depends on
donations made through the PayPal button above this blog. My task now is to
find a venue for recording The Sunday Alternative,
we have decided to try and assemble a few bands to film a not-for-broadcast
pilot edition so we can edit it into a show and give it a watch so that we know
what we did right (and wrong) and then go ahead at a later time. So as not to
be under too much stress we are going to make the video series fortnightly, and
the audio podcast (which I can record at home) to be released fortnightly on
alternate weeks. As it looks as if they’ll be recorded on a Saturday daytime
this will give us a week to edit and package it rather than one night. The Saturday Breakfast series might have hit a stumbling block,
as I might not be able to film it in a café due to some ridiculous health and safety
bollockery. Hopefully this will be cleared up so that the series will go ahead.
As I want that to be weekly, I might have to record two or three at a time
until we have a series worth and then upload them in due course.
The film ideas that I have
been kicking around for a few years might actually happen now, although these
are going to end up at the bottom of the list as I don’t want to run before I
can walk. My main priority has to be
getting The Sunday Alternative off the
ground, we’re going to do a series run of six editions followed by a break of
about a month, (during which time the audio podcast will continue to keep the
momentum going) before we start doing more. During the break in proceedings we
can look into what else we can do, the possibility being the comedy sketches
with Gary and Craig during the summer.
