At the moment I am planning ahead for the relaunch of The Sunday Alternative as a podcast, the documentary, the comedy sketch series, the music/cookery show (yes, really), and the weekly version of The Sunday Alternative, which might take some time hence I’m doing an audio podcast too so that the name stays alive and the listeners are kept happy. As you can imagine, there is a lot going on in my head and I’m finding it rather stressful, especially as we are now in the fourth month of the year and nothing has kicked off yet. With so much to think about, the date didn’t occur to me straight away. In fact the date didn’t occur to me until I was reading a copy of Metro on the tram, (only because it was on the seat and I wanted something to read as my mp3 player batteries had run out). I was more than halfway through this article about the government clampdown on selfie taking when my eyes drifted to the top of the page and clocked the date. As I had already disposed of my usual paper I couldn’t go back to check because I obviously read the paper without paying too much attention. The Nottingham Evening Post (as I still call it) joined in with this story which I bypassed at first but caught the second time, (for reasons best known to myself I read the paper twice before dumping it). This wasn’t a totally ridiculous story as there had been a recent story about a crossbow being unearthed a while ago, and so I just skipped over the new story. It wasn’t until after I had twigged that it is All Fool’s Day that I went back to the story and read it again.

I was out of the house for a large part of the day and as a result hadn’t been at my computer to be able to join in with the April Foolery until well after twelve o’clock. On Facebook there were the usual declarations of pregnancy from a few women, and some other such nonsense. The local promotions company I’m Not From London made a big announcement about having sold up, but best of all in my opinion was Kane Ashmore posting that he was being taken to court for copyright infringement for sampling. This had comments-a-plenty offering support until he did the reveal.

Even though people don’t tend to do April Fools jokes in real life, it is good to see that the Internet and the media keep it alive for no other reason than to make people smile.
