As is usually the way, I
thought of something today that I will now have to wait another year to follow
up. I thought up a brilliant news item to write for the local paper and forgot
to write it down, which considering it is now the second doesn’t really matter.
There has been another potential April Fool story in my files for about five
years that I still haven’t got round to pitching as I never remember until it
is far too late. Perhaps I should make a note as soon as I buy next year’s
pocket diary in the March 1st space to give me a month head start.
There was also a rather good newsletter I could have published on my newsletter
page, but again it will have to wait.
This kind of behavior is quite
a regular thing with me, I think of an idea too late to be able to do anything
with it. At Christmas I usually think of an idea for a Christmas project and
have to put it on ice for a while before I start working on it, which is
exactly what I had to do with the audio book of A Christmas
Carol among other things that I haven’t followed up yet.
When Nottingham was put on the
map due to the filming of The Dark Knight Rises, (something
I played a part in but somehow my invitation to the Nottingham premiere of the
film was lost in the post), I had a
brilliant idea for a tie-in with the DVD release. I actually had a meeting
about it but timing was once again something that we didn’t have the luxury of.
I wanted to gather bands together (you may remember Penny and me talking about
this on The Sunday Alternative) to record an EP
called Batman Lives In Nottingham. We discussed
on air that we should include four bands doing Batman related cover versions
suited to their style. Although it was seen as a good idea it never saw the
light of day, in fact I’m amazed the idea was never stolen.
